Whether you choose to hire a lawyer or prepare & submit the forms yourself, Executor Support can help you.
Save time and effort by having Executor Support do some of the work for you…
- Prepare a Balance Sheet containing the assets & liabilities
- Conduct a search for Wills Notice
- Do a title search on any real estate
- Provide you with a copy of the British Columbia Probate Kit or recommend a lawyer, whichever you wish
Save money by preparing and submitting the forms yourself. The British Columbia Probate Kit is available online or in office supply stores for about $40. It is well-written and includes a CD containing all of the necessary forms. The legal forms can also be downloaded from the Ministry of Justice website.
Worried about making an error? Don't be. The probate registry receives applications every day from people just like you. If they have a question you'll receive a letter in the mail asking you for additional input. Simply provide answers to their questions. That's all there is to it.
For those who prefer the simplicity of having a lawyer prepare & submit the forms, a reasonable fee would be approximately $2,000 for most estates. Executor Support would be pleased to recommend a qualified lawyer.

Frequently Asked Question:
Q: I would like someone to help me fill out the probate forms. Can I go to a notary public?
A: No. Notaries are not permitted to fill out probate forms in BC. Filling out the forms, or even answering your questions about the forms, is considered legal advice, and notaries are not permitted to provide that type of legal service. In BC, executors and administrators have two options when filling out probate forms: either hire a lawyer or do it yourself.
